Casey
Spradlin, Driver

Birthplace: Carrollton, Ga
Current Residence: Ranburne, Al
While Casey is pursuing his dream of becoming
a professional racecar driver, in the meantime, he is a High Voltage
Electrical Engineer for one of the largest wire and cable manufactures in
the world, Southwire Company.
Racing
Experience: As a second generation
drag racer, Casey’s racing experience started at an early age. After being a crewmember for his dad
during his childhood he gained a great knowledge and respect for these
high-horsepower beasts of the quarter-mile…its no wonder that once he began
driving (as soon as he obtained his drivers license) he burst onto the IHRA
scene with early success by securing a runner-up finish at his first IHRA
Pro-Am race in the Top Dragster category! The very next year he contended
for the IHRA Heat Wave (Div. 2) division championship on the strength of
his first win and a great season of finishes, only to come up one round
short. Casey would taste the thrill
of victory several more times in Top Dragster before switching classes to
Top Sportsman in 2002. He did not
have to wait long for success in this class, as he proved his versatility
as a driver with a win at the very first event, the NHRA Lucas Oil
Divisional event in Montgomery, Al.
For the 2009 season, Spradlin Motorsports realized their dream of
competing in two classes, Top Sportsman and Top Dragster. Although the workload (and expenses)
doubled, Casey proved up to the task, for this season turned out to be the
best that he had experienced yet, finding the winners circle 3 times in Top
Dragster and, not to be left out, once in Top Sportsman! One of these wins included his first
National event, where he hoisted his first “big” wally at one of only three
NHRA national events where Top Dragster was contested at that time, the
Jegs NHRA Cajun SportsNationals in Belle Rose, La. Casey went on to take the 2009 IHRA Heat
Wave division Top Dragster championship, realizing his lifelong dream of
becoming a drag racing champion! He
also finished runner-up in the NHRA Div. 2 Lucas Oil series that same
season. This Auburn University
degreed electrical engineer’s star shine’s even brighter when you find out
that his greatest accomplishment is overcoming a handicap of having his
foot amputated at an early age and performing these goals with a prosthetic
leg.
